Reading and Writing Goals:

ads, forms, recipes.
  • In writing: write forms, lists, simple
notes, and letters.
  • Think real life application.
  • Increase complexity in length, grammar,

skim and scanning skills.
  • Writing similar enhancement
  • Goal: get closer to native speaker
abilities and competence.

suitable examples and patterns.

authentic yet manageable.

  • Classroom consists mostly of reading
literature in second language

Teacher Talk:
  • Teacher input is crucial.
  • All eyes/ears on you.
  • Slow down for all student
  • Use students' and language in
classroom to help adjust.
(descriptive, cultural notes/comments,
quickly go over points so as to not
confuse slow speaking students.
  • Natural pace with articulation.
  • Shouldn't occupy the majority of the time.
  • You should use less of their native language, but flexible if needed.
